Reform UK recently made major gains across the 2026 local elections as the majority of seats came up for “grabs” in most constituencies after Reform UK leader Nigel Farage took Starmer and his party to court following Starmer’s want of a delay on local elections by 30 days.

Reform Uk won 1300+ seats winning a majority of all seats that were available, Reform showed support from traditional Labour and Conservative strongholds, especially in Northern England and Essex, where some areas experienced near clean sweeps. This shows a historic shift in politics and the possible start of a “three-party-era”.

The Greens under Zac Polanski gained 393 seats in total however no where near the amount as supposed “rivals” Labour and Reform pulled from the polls. On the other hand, Labour suffered a major loss of seats as did the Tories.

One of Reform UK’s policies is a push for the Uk to have stricter immigration policies tackling illegal migrants which has become an increasing issues over the past governments, this compares to the Greens who’s immigration policies are quite the opposite. Farage supports legal immigration however tells that the current crisis affects housing, NHS services and local communities and their safety.

Reform pushed there wins into Welsh and Scottish politics also in the 2026 local elections combatting The Welsh Labour Party, Plaid Cymru and the Scottish National Party (SNP) in Scotland. Suggesting that Reform has become a UK wide party, Dan Thomas is the man tasked with managing the Welsh Reform party as of February 2026 followed by Ross Lambie in Scotland.

Some controversities surround the election, with a lot primarily coming from those opposing the party and its policies, especially left-wing voters, as well as some controversity surrounding a donor-linked helicopter during campaign events which Reform tell they paid commercial rates on. This follows Kier Starmer’s recent crackdown on political donations including tighter rules on foreign-linked donations. Many say the crackdown aimed to stop or weaken Reforms funding, following links to crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne who donated millions to the party and its leader.

The local elections whilst creating upset for some, shows a hope for others who wish to “Reform” the United Kingdom and place that hope in the palm of Farage’s hand.
